Annabelle the Dancing Queen

CoGlo Amigos Story Corner

All the dancers were so strong and graceful.

Annabelle loves to dance.

One day her mama took her to see a ballet.

They jumped and twirled and tapped their feet to the beat.

Annabelle was amazed by their movements.

The dancers looked like they were floating through the air!

The curtains closed and the show was done.

Annabelle turned to her Mama with a big grin.

“Mama, Mama! I want to be just like them!"

“I know, but I will practice  very hard!" Annabelle said.

"It’s a lot of practice and hard work,” Annabelle’s Mama said.

"I want to be as strong and graceful as the dancers in the show.”

Annabelle's Mama signed her up for dance lessons the very next day.

“I know you can do it,” Annabelle’s Mama said.

She smiled and gave Annabelle a hug.

Then the dance teacher came up to her and said....

Annabelle felt very shy.

She didn't know anyone there.

“I am so glad to have you in class, Annabelle," said the teacher.  "Let’s get started!”

“Welcome, little giraffe!" the teacher said.  "What is your name?”

“I’m Annabelle. Nice to meet you.”

Annabelle felt better already.

The teacher told everyone to line up in a row and began to explain the steps to the dance.

The teacher counted “One, two, three. One, two, three.”

This is how dancers know when to step, hop, jump, and twirl.

Sometimes Annabelle forgets the order the numbers go in.

She counts to herself as she dances but there are so many numbers!

Remembering all the steps and numbers can be difficult.

Help Annabelle learn to dance by connecting the dots on the worksheet.

Annabelle knows that if she keeps practicing she can do it! As she steps and twirls she counts to herself:  “One, two, three. One, two, three… What number comes next?”

Can you help Annabelle count to twenty? Connect the dots, starting at 1 to 20 to complete the picture.
